“Art enables us to both lose ourselves and find ourselves at the sane time”
THOMAS MERTON
My paintings are a personal visual journal capturing ,y response to the natural world using layers of cold wax medium and oil paint, As I slowly build each painting, the image emerges, shifting as I apply and remove the paint mixture, revealing a history of its making. The richly textured surfaces, powdered pigments and oil paint combine to create a surface with extraorfinary depth and interest.
My vessels sre an expression of a visceral connection to the natural world. I incorporate found organic material that I collect locally to brong that connection closer and more meaningful, As I work, each vessel takes shape intuitively, and slowly emerges as theclay is built up. I love to add impressions of random shapes and textures to deepen the story as the work unfolds, The piece id then dried slowly, bisque fired. glazed and fired a second time to temperatures reaching 2200 degrees farenheit. fusing the clay and molten glaze into a beautiful and unique fusion of earth and glass.
